Laminate Chair Mat Usege and WarrantyAs with any flooring product, no matter how tough, you should take a few preventative measures to ensure long life. Make sure the casters you select are made for the type of flooring you have. Casters that come with new office chairs are generally hard-wheel casters for carpeted floors. For hard-floor surfaces like tile, wood or laminate, you should use a softer, more resilient caster to protect the floor/mat and to keep the chair from rolling too freely. Soft casters are also quieter on hard-floor surfaces and much more comfortable for the user.
Carpet casters (hard tread) are made of hard materials like metal, plastic, and hard rubber. Hard-floor casters (soft tread) are softened with a thin coating of urethane elastomers or ployurethane, vinyl, or soft rubber. The materials often look the same. You can't tell the difference between a soft and hard caster by looking at it. You have to push your fingernail into the wheel and see if it "gives" even just a little. If so, it is a soft wheel and will work well with a hard floor surface. Conversely, a hard wheel has no resilience and will not "give" at all to the fingernail test. These hard wheels are best used on carpet. They will degrade any hard floor surface they are used on. In short then, use hard casters for soft floors; use soft casters for hard floors. Soft chair castors can be specified on ordering of new chairs or are available as replacements for existing chairs at most stationary or office furniture stores. Using a chair with any type of metal or hard ball casters will likely cause damage to the finish and will void the chair mat warranty. Improper caster usage is the #1 cause by far of flooring wear and tear. Please note that these floor mats are designed for use in indoor, moisture free locations only. Laminate Chair Mat WarrantyWe warrant that our laminate chair mats will be free from manufacturing defects in workmanship or material and will not wear through for a period of twelve months. If the mat does wear through with normal use within the first 12 months of service, we will repair or replace the mat, at our option, subject to the following conditions:
